USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN
UX design is incredibly important because it focuses on the user's experience, ensuring that products are not only functional but also enjoyable to use. A great UX design can turn a frustrating task into something effortless, guiding users intuitively through an interface and making interactions feel natural. It’s about understanding user needs, solving problems, and creating a seamless journey that leaves a lasting positive impression.
Parks Canada Redesign
In this project, my group and I were tasked with redesigning the Parks Canada booking system into an app. We wanted to use Parks Canada’s Design colours for our visual style. The green and orange can be seen throughout the entire design. We wanted our experience to be extensive but also limited in the number of steps so that our user (a busy mom) could complete the reservation quickly and efficiently. One of the main problems with the initial reservation site was it took quite a long time to do, especially if the user did not know where they wanted to go. We included a browsing section for this purpose. We also wanted to include lots of symbols to help the user experience. We also focused on keeping the filter bar throughout the design so users could easily switch their selected information.
Augmented Reality: Telus World of Science
In this project, my group and I were tasked with creating an augmented reality experience for the Telus World of Science. Our goal is to have visitors be able to enjoy the TWoSE experience through a path-based navigation system that is characterized and personal to them, focusing on making the experience easy using a route personalized to them through accessibility preferences. As well as encouraging skills and knowledge outside of the centre at home through personal learning.
